Downing's Basement

Well ok! This has been kept under wraps for quite some time now, but I’ve been keeping a close worklog journal which I’ll be posting in the WIP section on the MBB Forums.

Basically what we have here is a modified Yobo FC Twin system that I was originally going to use in my Mini-Cade project that has since been dismantled. I had screwed up the cart slots on them, cutting the pins too close to the plastic and thus making the project more of a burden than it was worth. But that’s ok, but out of that came this idea.

Rather than waste a good system that I couldn’t use for much else, I decided to do something a bit different and started work on this. A portable handheld unit that has a copy of Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World and a copy of the original Legend of Zelda for the NES and hard wire them right to their respective boards!

Though the theory has been tested and works, it will be a bit of a trick to get the system to actually function as such, on top of the fact that I’m adding all kinds of different components that I’ve never added to a portable before, like wall power and A/V out to a TV. On top of this as well, I’m using a 4.3 inch screen with no audio so I am forced to use an amp that has yet been tested also.

But here are a few pics of the front and sides. Still have to Vac-form the back but I was waiting to see how thick it was actually going to need to be…which with the amount of hardware inside, will be fairly thick.
